"By Appointment"??? What's THAT all about? The madness behind the mystery of the "Evaluation Appointment" - REVEALED!

Happy Frigid Friday SLL Baseball players and families!

We're kicking off another season of fabulous SLL baseball on Saturday, January 17th with Player Evaluations.  I guess there's been some rumbling about this concept of "By Appointment" and I thought it best to reveal the madness behind the mystery.  Just a note to all - ANY time you have questions about teams, players, evals, or registration - please feel free to contact me directly.  I try my best to get back to you as soon as possible with answers to whatever questions you may have.

So, on to the evaluation process for 2015 ...

In an effort to streamline the check-in process and make this year’s evaluations more efficient and productive, we have established a specific schedule for all Major and Minor Player Evaluations.  Registered players will be scheduled in groups of 15 for each appointed check-in time (see below.)  Please email Laura Hunter (player.agent@sturbridgelittleleague.com) with your first and second GROUP preference.  Your “appointment” will be confirmed via return email on a first-come, first-served basis.  (If you have not yet registered, please do so before requesting an evaluation appointment.)

Players are evaluated on five key skills: batting, base running, fielding ground balls, fielding fly balls, and throwing.  Typically each player will receive 5 pitches and will be asked to “run the bases” on the fifth pitch.  Sturbridge Little League is thrilled to welcome players of the Assumption College Baseball team as our guest evaluators again this year.

We are also pleased to have many of our returning Major League players and representatives of the Tantasqua High School baseball team attending to facilitate a pre-evaluation warm-up.  I encourage you to attend the warm-up session to stretch out a bit and be ready to show off your mad skills to our evaluators.

The Sturbridge Little League Volunteer Coordinator will be available to answer any questions about how YOU can get involved with the League.  We do ask all parents to participate in some kind of volunteer activity throughout the season and this is a perfect opportunity to learn how you can “pitch” in!

Please be sure to arrive at the appointed check-in time for your designated evaluation “appointment.”  Your registration and payment will be confirmed and you will be asked to present a copy of your player’s birth certificate and medical release form at that time.

If you arrive after your designated evaluation start time, you will be asked to wait until the next available open slot.

Reminders:
o   NO cleats are allowed in the Gymnasium.
o   Dress appropriately.  Untied sneakers, baggy sweats, hooded sweatshirts, and jeans can all       hinder your performance.  Dig out last year’s uniform and dress the part!
o   Wear a baseball hat!
o   Bring water but eat something before you arrive!

The schedule for Saturday, January 17th is as follows:
Evaluations will be held in the Tantasqua Junior High School Gymnasium

GROUPS 1-3 have been designated for MAJOR LEAGUE evaluations.
GROUPS 4-8 have been designated for MINOR LEAGUE evaluations.
